Getting There

How to get there:
From Big Bay Bloubergstrand, carry on driving north (with the sea on your left) past Melkbosstrand. At the intersection with the R27, turn left, driving to Velddrif. Just follow this road for about 60 kms, past Yzerfontein, past the West Coast National Park entrance, until you reach the Langebaan turn off. Turn left here, and follow the road in to the town. At the main intersection, turn right, and this will take you to the beach. Note that you can also get to Langebaan through the West Coast National Park, but this will cost you the entry fee

Kitespot Description

Wind Direction:

Best Months:
All year round

Conditions:
Langebaan is a great kiting destination - a glance at the Wind Statistics for Langebaan should leave no doubt in your mind. There isn’t much of a wave, as the long point effectively shelters the whole bay area; what you do have to watch out for is the tide; when the tide is going out, the current is incredibly strong, and it can make sailing in a SE wind very unpleasant - you spend most of the time trying to regain your starting point; of course, when the tide is coming in, it can be excellent, effortless sailing.

Rigging Area:
On the beach

Additional Information:
There is a wind free zone to the far right of the beach at the rocky area. If you are a beginner, rather walk your kite up left as far as you can.
