This location offers good consistent surf all year round and good wave riding conditions. Durban's kite beach is managed by the local car guards who will pump up your kite, set your lines out and also help you pack away. The beach has showers and a grass area to rig up and pack up. The beach is wide enough even on a high tide to have plenty of space for launching and landing on the beach.
The location is best in a NE wind but can also support winds around to SE but not SW as this is an offshore wind and is very gusty. Normally on the SW downwinds are done or you can kite north of Durban. The beach is not really affected by the tide. After a few days of NE a rip does develop which makes kiting here very difficult.
